Namika Areena

Namika Areena is Helsinki NMKY’s new sports hall. The arena will serve Helsinki NMKY’s diverse activities for children and young people, as well as physical education at Pakila elementary school. Namika Areena brings a lot of new leisure opportunities to the area, and the outdoor spaces are developed according to the needs and wishes of the users.

The yard encourages movement with street basket ball courts and floor markings. During the planning phase, a special attention was given to local population of flying squirrels. As a result, a flying squirrel jumping pole was installed in the street basketball area to protect the flying squirrels’ routes. The yard design was carried out in collaboration with Architects Rundanko + Kankkunen.
